Honor Roll

Welcome to The Historical Society of Interlachen's web site.  On the following pages are many old and modern photographs of our town, a guide to the city, a community bulletin board and other features to help you appreciate historic Interlachen.  Come back often as the site is being continually updated.

Interlachen, Florida is a town of about 1,500, situated on SR 20 between Gainesville and Palatka in Northeast Florida.  The town was incorporated in 1888.  Many of the town's 100+ year old homes have been preserved.

The word Interlachen means "between the lakes" and indeed, there are many lakes in Interlachen which provide recreation and beauty.

The people of the past showed us the way and we can still feel their mystic presence in the homes they built and the community they made. In many ways they are still with us.

Standing where they stood, we can imagine them and understand, that like ours, their lives were filled with hope, dreams and passion.  Once their homes were filled with love and we believe that some of that love lingers.  We believe that their importance has not vanished, just because they are dead.

By preserving their stories, homes and buildings, we honor them.
